John Scrutton RIP

Post by red devil » Sun Jan 14, 2018 7:24 pm

I was saddened to read that John had passed away in the latest edition of Classic Scooterist.
He was a regular sprinter together with myself and Richard Baker in the early 1980's and I enjoyed many sprint meetings with him. I will always remember John as a talented scooter rider who had quite a few years of circuit racing experience before his sprinting career took off. When I retired in 1983 John took over as the man to beat and he really shone at the British records meetings from 1985 for a few years. In total he set 10 new records, raising the average speed on the flying quarter and kilo to 107mph and good enough to hold that record, and others until quite recently.
I last saw him at Santa Pod in 2008 when he attended the 50th anniversary of the National sprint association.
My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

Frank.

I remember mid to late 80's seeing him.
