had the rim on the kitchen scales..... :geek: 1100 gms.. :o
then put a standard PIAGGIO rim on the scales.. 1420 gms
piaggio rim complete with michelin 3.50 x 10 airstop tube.. 1795gms....

the M8 wheel nuts come with 12mm hex head..

i think S.I.P claim that these rims offset about 3mm from the standard piaggio centre line...??? (not sure why, unless its to clear shock spring, clutch cover, casings.etc etc)

hope this is of some interest to you or any other Vespa rider reading this thread..
cheers Col..

Hi peeps,

I have in the meanwhile tested the SIP-rims both on track and road on my Vespas.

Facts: the 2.50" have got an offset of 4-5mm - which in the back does not seem to matter. Used on the front, they can generate some awkward wobble in left turns and above 65mph (my experience, I might be a tad sensitive, though), depending on the suspension geometry. The offset becomes unbearable if you use the 2.50 along with a grimeca on a PK XL-fork (results in an offset of approx. 9-10mm)
the 2.10" (standard width) are fine - just fitting and removing the tyre is really tricky.

On my race PK I fitted the 2.50" with 3.50 TT92 in the back (due to offset no spacers necessary to clear the clutch cover and engine casing).
In the front I use the 2.10" w/ 90/90 TT92s

Above is a really nice combo. Another advantage is that you can easily ride with pressures below 1bar (~14psi) without the risk to suffer from overheating of the inner tube.
